It’s been a long day. Sundays are usually pretty busy around here, and to make things even busier today, Janet and I went to see Barbie late this afternoon. (It’s great! Go see it!) Then we came home, just in time for our weekly Sunday night TV date! (A wonderful night when we watch The Righteous Gemstones while sharing a pint of ice cream.)
Now it’s 10:18 pm on Sunday. I’m sitting at my computer with a belly full of amaretto cherry cordial ice cream. I have one hour and 42 minutes to publish this atomic essay to keep my daily writing streak alive.
I want to keep the streak alive because I’m practicing The Law Of 100! What’s The Law Of 100, you ask? Read on, and you’ll find out.
The Law Of 100 is something that I learned from a guy named Noah Kagen (Employee #30 at Facebook, Employee #4 at Mint, #1 in my heart), the Founder & CEO of AppSumo.com. Noah tells anyone who will listen (and many people who won’t), “If you want to be productive, start by creating/doing your first 100 – whatever that is for you – with complete disregard for your results.”
What that looks like is:
– If you want to start a podcast or a YouTube channel, put out 100 episodes
– If you’re doing a newsletter, get 100 subscribers
– If you’re starting a new hobby like chess or guitar, practice for 100 days
Noah says, “Just focus on that first 100. That’s what the Law of 100 is about.” And Noah is right!
Tonight I am posting my ninth Atomic Essay. I have 91 more essays to go. At the end of those 100 essays, I can’t promise I’ll be the best writer in the world, but I can promise that I’ll be a better writer!
If you’re putting off a project because you’re worried you’ll suck at it or have trouble finishing what you start, give Noah Kagen’s Law Of 100 a try. And let me know how it goes.
I love you, and I hope you have a great day!
