It was in the summer of 2001, while teaching an improv class at the Second City Training Center in Hollywood when I came up with the simple phrase that makes creating stuff easy and more fun.

Not only does it make creating easier and more fun, the work seems almost effortless. And this phrase can be used in all sorts of situations. Both when creating art or creating your life.

And that phrase is, “Get out of your head, & into your heart.”

The Magic Of “Get Out Of Your Head & Into Your Heart”

“Get Out Of Your Head & Into Your Heart” is a super simple way to ignore the Fear and find the Fun when you’re working on creative projects.

You can’t think and feel at the same time. You’re either thinking and not feeling or feeling and not thinking. So you need to stop the thinking, and focus on the feeling.

Here’s how you do it:

Step 1: Get Out Of Your Head

When you’re creating, focus solely on what you’re doing at that very instant.

Fear lives in your head. To ignore the Fear, it’s crucial you focus only on what you’re doing the very instant that you’re doing it. Nothing else.

Be totally present to what you’re doing.

Step 2: Get Into Your Heart

Allow yourself to play.

Force yourself to enjoy the process, even if this means putting on a fake smile. Be curious, open, and willing to be surprised. Don’t worry about “doing it right,” just enjoy the process of doing it.

Accept all the results as “the best thing ever,” and be grateful for them.

It’s just that simple.

If you follow this process, you’ll find that you’re work will seem effortless and more satisfying. You will create things only you could create. That’s exactly what the world wants to see!

I love you, and I hope you have a wonderful day!
