Something Is Better Than Nothing or How To Pursue Your Dream Without Really Trying

Every day I wake up with the same thought banging on my brain, “God damn it! Today, I’m going to write!”

And every night, I go to sleep with a slightly different thought banging on my brain, “God damn it! I didn’t write!”

Which brings up the question we are all now asking ourselves, “God damn it! Why didn’t he (or I) write?”

The answer is simple: I was afraid to write.

The list of things that cause me to be afraid is endless: My writing will suck. I’m wasting my time. People will make fun of me. I’m too old. I’ve got nothing to say. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah.

This morning, I woke up with a different thought banging on my brain, “Something is better than nothing.” And I sat down at my computer and wrote.

My goal was not to write well. My goal was not to write the best thing ever written. My goal was to write “something.” Because “something is better than nothing.”

So that’s what this post is. It’s “something.” “Something” that I wrote. “Something” that you read. And “something” that when I go to sleep tonight will make me think, “God damn it! I wrote something today!”

I love you all, and I hope you have a wonderful day!
